Diamonds in the Night

A job that pushed the limits of RenderHub’s R&D. This shoot had everyone buzzing, there were a lot of expectations on the block. When the clips came in to the color bay, hearts stopped for a moment. The clips had so much elegance, beauty, presence AND a lot of Noise. Nights can be a nightmare to the DI team.

No matter what, this was a project that we simply were not gonna lose. There was no possibility for a retake as well. With our hands tied and target set we had to dig deep and we dug deep into a zone that has been the ultimate calling card for RenderHub. Custom Color Science Tools.

A week of analyzing camera’s noise profile, one person was building the custom curve, another was researching the color model which would help us bring the details out without amplifying the noise. After 2 weeks of non stop work we arrived at the pipeline for the final grade. This was one of our most expensive projects. But nobody remembers the price tag because this was one of the best experiences and output produced by us and everyone involved in this project.
