RH Petal Hue Sat Den MT is a precision six-vector hue and saturation tool built on the proprietary Petal Color Model using signature Mock Theta Basis Weights - a mathematically superior alternative to the cosine-power basis functions used in conventional HSL-style hue controls. Standard hue selectors treat each primary's influence zone as a symmetric bell curve. In reality, each hue primary interacts differently with its neighbours. The Mock Theta Basis gives each vector its own independently tunable sharpness (Width) and asymmetry (Deviation), allowing you to shape how each primary's influence falls off on either side without affecting any other vector.
Key Features
Mock Theta Basis Weights
Each primary uses a Mock Theta basis plus an asymmetry tilt, giving independent control of how sharply the zone falls off toward each neighbouring primary. Not possible with conventional cosine-power hue selectors.
Asymmetry Per Vector (Deviation)
The Deviation slider tilts a primary’s influence zone so one shoulder is wider than the other. Use it to protect skin tones on the warm side of orange while still hitting saturated reds on the cool side.
Independent Width Per Vector
Narrow or widen each primary’s zone independently. Tighten greens to surgical precision or open up yellows to catch a broader foliage range without affecting adjacent vectors.
The Petal Model
The basis function uses a C-infinite expression and a proprietary color model which ensures the adjustments are always smooth.
